Meet the Board of Directors of Our Foundation
Members of the Board of Directors of the Island County Master Gardener Foundation play a crucial role in fulfilling the Foundation’s mission of supporting the Master Gardener Program. The Board is comprised of nine Directors who are elected by the membership and serve as voting members. Ad hoc advisors to the Board are appointed and hold leadership position in Foundation projects and activities, and they participate regularly in board meetings.
The Board works closely with the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program Coordinator for Island County. The Program Coordinator attends Board meetings and communicates regularly with the Foundation President. A Memorandum of Agreement with Washington State University Extension provides a shared understanding of roles and responsibilities.
The Board represents the Foundation membership in managing its affairs. It is authorized to accept contributions and gifts; review, submit, and implement the Foundation’s budget; establish committees; dispose of assets; and approve and terminate accounts.
The Board meets via Zoom on the second to the last Thursday of most months – see the calendar at the bottom of this page. All Master Gardeners are welcome and encouraged to attend board meetings. Please contact the president for the Zoom link of the meeting you wish to attend.

How to Get Involved with Foundation Leadership
Committee Membership: Foundation members do not have to be a member of the Board to serve on committees. If you are looking for a way to volunteer and contribute to the Foundation and one of these committees matches your experience, expertise, or interests, please contact the Foundation President.
Board Positions: Board Directors serve two-year, staggered terms. In June of each year, a Nominating Committee of volunteer Foundation members is formed to develop the election slate for new officers. We encourage people who have an interest in board service to contact the Foundation President.
